Micro Laser Welding

Laserlux serves both manufacturing and development projects while implementing the most reliable and advanced developments in the micro laser welding field to provide companies, startups, and inventors a streamlined path for producing cutting-edge medical devices, aerospace and other high-tech industries.

Compared to conventional joining methods, micro laser welding is recognized as a high-speed, repeatable process that offers numerous advantages, including:

  • High quality weld (smooth seam surface, no oxidation, no part distortion)
  • Minimum heat-affected zone, which minimizes damage to the work piece
  • Low heat input: the weld energy is delivered only where it is needed and with exceptional control
  • Non-contact process with great accessibility of the hard-to-reach welding areas including deep and narrow areas
  • Simple integration with viewing systems for micro precision material positioning and handling
  • No need of a vacuum chamber, as required by electron beam welding
  • Clean welds: In addition to the aesthetic benefits, clean welds result in products that are easier to sterilize or fit into other assemblies
  • Strong welds: Laser provides high strength with minimum number of welds
  • Hermetic welds: Unlike soldering or brazing, lasers can provide flawless hermetic welds essential for many micro- applications

Our state of the art equipment enables us to perform uniform, continuous welding without pigmentation, creating a complete, hermetic weld while upholding supreme precision and avoiding overheating and / or deformation of the welded specimens.

LaserLux offers micro laser welding services within a clean room and outside a clean room for the most complicated and challenging materials and parts.

LaserLux’s micro laser welding is performed in a protective work environment (Argon cloud), safeguarding against the oxidization of the welded parts while maintaining low working temperatures; thus preventing distortion (deformation / blockage / hardening) amongst other thermal effects.

The laser is an excellent tool for the welding of almost all common metals and their alloys. The wide range of tried and tested applications include stainless steel, gold, silver, platinum and titanium, as well as shape memory alloys.

LaserLux provides the professional capabilities to weld the following metal (amongst others):

  • Stainless steel and steel – all grades (Austenitic, Martensitic and Ferritic)
  • Nickel Titanium
  • Titanium Nickel Chromium
  • Cobalt Chromium Platinum
  • Platinum Iridium
  • Aluminium
  • 17-4ph / 17-7ph (precipitation hardening metals)
